In this chapter, students will learn about rational numbers, properties of whole numbers, integers and rational numbers with respect to closure, commutativity and associativity. NCERT Exemplar Class 8 Maths Chapter 2 – Data Handling

In Chapter 2, students will be able to represent the data in a pictorial form, using bar graphs and double bar graphs. They will also learn to organize and group data. Representation of data via histogram and pie chart, along with the concept of probability, is introduced in the chapter.

NCERT Exemplar Class 8 Maths Chapter 3 – Squares and Square Roots & Cubes and Cube Roots

In Chapter 3, learners will be solving problems based on squares and square roots. Also, they will get to know the properties of square numbers, learn to find the squares of a number, Pythagorean triplets, finding the square root of a number in general form, prime factorisation and by division method. Learners will also come across cubes and their prime factors, how to find if a number is a perfect cube, and find the cube roots of numbers by prime factorisation method and estimation method.

NCERT Exemplar Class 8 Maths Chapter 4 – Linear Equations in One Variable

In this chapter, students will learn to solve equations which have linear expressions on one side and numbers on the other side and also some applications based on it. They will also learn linear equations having a variable on both sides and their applications. Besides, the chapter discusses how to reduce equations to a simpler form and a linear form.

NCERT Exemplar Class 8 Maths Chapter 5  – Understanding Quadrilaterals & Practical Geometry

Learn here about polygons and their classification, such as triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and depending upon the number of sides and vertex. Also, find out about diagonals of polygons, convex and concave polygons, regular and irregular polygons and angle sum properties for polygons. Also, learn the kinds of quadrilaterals here, along with the features of a parallelogram. Students will also learn to construct a quadrilateral depending upon the measurements given for lengths of sides, diagonal and angles included in it.

In this chapter, students will learn about the difference between 2D and 3D figures, different types of 3D shapes, and their regions like faces, edges and vertices.

NCERT Exemplar Class 8 Maths Chapter 7  – Algebraic Expressions and Identities & Factorisation

Chapter 7 will explain expressions, terms, factors, coefficients, monomials, binomials and polynomials, and like and unlike terms. Students will also find operations performed on an Algebraic Expression, such as addition, subtraction and multiplication, and some standard identities of algebra and their applications to solve problems. Chapter 8 explains powers with negative exponents, laws of exponents and also how to use exponents to express small numbers in standard form.

In this chapter, students will learn about ratios and percentage, and how to find the increase and decrease in percentage, and discount percentage.
